Ceifets Project, Queen Street East, Brampton
Weston Consulting was successful in obtaining the approval for a site-specific Zoning-By-law amendment in order to facilitate a high-density mixed-use development in the Queen and Bramalea Road area of Brampton. Weston Consulting played an integral role in managing the development approval process and coordinating the project consulting team.
Municipally known as 1685 and 1701 Queen Street East, the site is part of the City’sCentral Area, which is envisioned to transform and evolve into a vibrant and modern mixed-use urban centre from its current underutilized state.
In November 2010, Weston Consulting submitted a Zoning By-law Amendment application to permit two high-rise residential towers, anchored by a mixed-use podium with at-grade retail, office and ancillary uses. In addition to managing the development approval process; which included extensive consultation with City and Regional staff, various agencies, and local and Regional Councillors, Weston Consulting also prepared the concept plan and various 3D massing models illustrating the proposed development. An urban design brief and shadow studies were also prepared and submitted by Weston Consulting in support of this application. Zoning By-law 146-2013 was ultimately passed by City of Brampton Council on June 5, 2013.
