Mr. Zipay holds a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Toronto and has 33 years of public service and planning experience.
John continues to be the President of his self-established enterprise, John Zipay & Associates, and has now formed an affiliation with Weston Consulting, where he offers an array of professional land use and planning consulting services specific to official plans, zoning by-laws and secondary plans for various clients.
Mr. Zipay was with the City of Vaughan, where in his role as the Commissioner of Planning and Building, he oversaw planning and building department functions and was instrumental in the preparation of Vaughan’s new Official Plan 2010. He brings with him a vast amount of experience working for different municipalities. John was employed with the City of Mississauga for 15 years and spent 12 years working for the City of Hamilton in senior management positions.
John’s duties within the firm consist of arranging planning and development management services to public and private sector clients on a variety of development-related and land use planning projects, as well as developing and preparing various land analysis reports and preparing for Ontario Municipal Board.
