In a recent Ontario Municipal Board decision regarding a new development in Thornhill, Weston Consulting played a pivotal role in reaching a settlement, working on behalf of the neighbouring residents group.
The development proposal sought to incorporate 5 new residential dwellings on a half-acre lot in an area characterized by large lots. This proposal was previously refused at the City of Vaughan Committee of Adjustment prior to being appealed to the Ontario Municipal Board.
Weston led discussions with the residents group as well as the solicitor providing professional planning opinion with regard to the appeal matter. After negotiations took place between the solicitors on both sides, a settlement was ultimately reached. This settlement incorporated 4 new residential dwellings which better suits the residents, as well as the existing character of the area.
