Mr. Alexander holds a Bachelor degree in Urban and Regional Planning (BURPl) from Ryerson University where he received the Ted Tyndorf Award and the Donald J. Logan award for his work in class and in the community. He is a full member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, a Registered Professional Planner with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and a non-resident member of the Saskatchewan Professional Planners Institute.
Mr. Alexander’s experience includes six years as a planner with the regional offices of the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing in Thunder Bay and Sudbury. In this role he provided planning advice to municipal planners, developers and members of the public and helped implement Provincial planning policies throughout northern Ontario. Mr. Alexander has also been actively involved in the review and update of the Provincial Policy Statement, land use compatibility guidelines and over a dozen municipal official plans.
While living in Sudbury Mr. Alexander ran for a seat on City Council and advocated for improvements in pedestrian and cyclist safety. He is an experienced public speaker and has made presentations at the Canadian Association of Planning Students Conference, the Canadian Institute of Planners Conference, the Ontario Bike Summit and at Council meetings. Mr. Alexander has provided evidence at the Ontario Municipal Board and successfully negotiated numerous settlements of matters under appeal.
In October, 2016 Mr. Alexander joined the team at Weston Consulting as a senior planner where his responsibilities include research and analysis of planning policies, preparing planning justification letters, representing clients at Committee of Adjustment and Council meetings, and working with clients to achieve their land use planning goals.
Mr. Alexander works primarily out of our Vaughan office.
