Ms. Brown holds a Technician’s Education Council Certificate in Cartography and Surveying from Kingston Technical College in England.
In 1989 Ms. Brown joined the firm of Weston Consulting. Since that time she has gained considerable experience using both Cad (Microstation), Corel and manual drafting techniques.
Prior to her work with Weston Consulting, Ms. Brown was a surveyor with the Ordnance Survey in England where she supervised the staff of a field office. The work involved the updating of large scale mapping using both electronic distance measurement (total station) and manual methods. Ms. Brown was also trained and worked as a cartographer with the Directorate of Overseas Survey producing five-coloured small scale mapping for developing countries such as Kenya and Zambia.
In her role as Senior Designer, Ms. Brown works closely with planners, clients and other consultants to produce effective and realistic urban design strategies. In addition to her supervisory role, she designs and prepares Development Concepts, Draft Plans of Subdivision, Site Plans, Secondary Plans, Severance Plans and full colour graphics used as exhibits for Ontario Municipal Board Hearings and Public Meetings, as well as graphics for inclusion in reports.
