Yonge Street and Elderberry Trail, Aurora Ontario
Weston Consulting worked for client P.A.R.C.E.L. Inc. to obtain approval for a unique mixed-use development consisting of a wellness centre, 20-unit residential apartment building, and single family residence on a vacant parcel of land located on the south-west corner of Yonge Street and Elderberry Trail in the Town of Aurora. The Official Plan Amendment (OPA) and Zoning By-law Amendment (By-law) applications were initially refused by the Town of Aurora.
Weston Consulting’s efforts resulted in the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) allowing an appeal. Weston Consulting provided evidence at the OMB on behalf of the client in support of the development. The Town of Aurora recommended approval to a revised development.
An agreement to settle was reached after several meetings between the client, the Aurora Yonge Street South Ratepayers and the Town of Aurora. Although the ratepayers participated fully in these negotiations, they were not entirely satisfied with the final proposal. However, the Board agreed with the evidence presented by Weston Consulting and the Town of Aurora.
